Health communication is the study of how individuals, caregivers/providers, organizations, communities and cultures communicate and understand health information. Our faculty use a variety of theoretical and methodological tools to determine communication practices effective for informing and influencing health decisions, actions and policies. While broadly focused on promoting health across a number of issues and contexts, associated faculty research and courses examine health literacy, mediated health campaigns, public health policy, risk communication and disease prevention efforts, sexual health and psychological well-being.
