Poynter Center names Meaning and Media Seminar Fellows
The Poynter Center’s Meaning and Media Seminar has announced its Fellows, which include five faculty and three doctoral students from The Media School.
Faculty Fellows are associate professor Terri Francis, professor of practice Kelley Benham French, professor of practice Tom French, associate professor Bryant Paul, associate professor Rob Potter and professor Steve Raymer.
Doctoral student Fellows are Zachary Vaughn, Roshni Verghese and doctoral student YanYan Zhou.
The seminar Fellows will address how media reflects and reshapes cultural and social values, creates meaning through messages, and challenges and redefines social standards.
The seminar was designed to bring together scholars from the new Media School, established in July and formed from the existing departments of telecommunications and communication and culture, and the School of Journalism.
The Poynter Center for the Study of Ethics and American Institutions now is part of The Media School at IU.
