Biography
My program of research centers on social psychological processes and effects of the mass media. More specifically, I study how individuals’ media choices and exposure influence cognitive and emotional responses to content (mostly in sports and entertainment contexts).
I have also worked on the design, implementation, and evaluation of large scale media campaigns, particularly regarding opioid use disorder and tobacco cessation.
I received my PhD from the former Department of Telecommunications at IU in 2015. Prior to that, I was a sports producer and training coordinator at several Cincinnati television stations. As a sports producer, I edited and produced nightly sports broadcasts and a weekly sports show. As a training coordinator, I taught television production workshops for the community and led several after school video clubs for local students. I also held faculty positions at the University of Miami (FL) and the University of Kentucky before joining The Media School.
