Four faculty members are joining The Media School this fall, with two IU alumni among them.
These incoming instructors will be using their years of professional experience to teach courses in communication science, media production, game design, sports media, and several other topics across media.

With a career spanning nearly 20 years, Ted Jamison-Koenig, BS’11, MA’14, PhD’23, is a trained audio engineer, musician, songwriter, and producer. He has directed live broadcasts, produced music and sound effects for films, and recorded a variety of music, from classical to death metal, live and in the studio.
Jamison-Koenig is an IU alumnus, earning his B.S. in recording arts from Jacobs School of Music and his M.A. in telecommunications and Ph.D. in mass communications from The Media School.
Jamison-Koenig has been working with IU since 2011 and brings with him years of experience teaching and assisting numerous courses on media production, psychology, advertising, politics, games, and more.
Nicky Lewis, BS’06, MA’12, PhD’15, comes to The Media School from the University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information. There, she taught courses in and researched mass communication, media psychology, sports entertainment, and quantitative methods. She also taught as an assistant professor at the University of Miami’s Department of Journalism and Media Management.
Lewis earned her B.S. in sports communication from IU’s School of Public Health, and she earned her M.A. in telecommunications and Ph.D. in mass communications from The Media School.
Patricia Pizer has spent over 30 years working with games of all kinds, from puzzles to board games, to video games. She is the director of games research and fun at Parrot Concepts LLC, which creates mobile games for parrots, a project she has been passionate about for years. She also works at Mobile Game Doctor Inc. as a subcontractor for game development.
Pizer earned her B.A. in English and philosophy from Macalester College and her M.A. in advertising and public relations from Emerson College, where she also taught courses.
Pizer brings three decades of media production experience, including game development and design, creative leadership, and storytelling through media. She has worked with companies like UbiSoft and Disney and has contributed to online multiplayer games like Toontown, Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force, and Asheron’s Call.
Brandon Wallace joins The Media School after six years of teaching at the University of Maryland. He has taught various courses on sports media and engagement and restructured and taught a course on Black masculinity in sports with assistance from grant funding.
Wallace earned his B.A. in sport communication and sociology from Bradley University. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in physical cultural studies from the University of Maryland.
Wallace’s research examines how power relations and inequalities are both constituted and resisted through sport, exercise, and other health-related practices. He has merged sport communications with cultural studies and sociological analysis and seeks to illuminate the way national tensions show themselves in the world of sport.
