Weaver, Fargo, and Ireri contribute to ‘The Palgrave Handbook’
Distinguished Professor Emeritus David H. Weaver is one of three editors of “The Palgrave Handbook of Cross-Border Journalism,” which was just published by Switzerland-based Palgrave Macmillan. The 600-page volume includes 38 chapters featuring more than 60 authors from around the world, including Media School associate professor Tony Fargo and former doctoral student Kioko Ireri, who is now a faculty member in the Department of Mass Communication of UNICAF University in Cyprus.
Professor Lars Willnat, Ph.D.’92, co-authored a chapter with Weaver, titled “Cross-Border Journalism in North America.” Willnat was formerly a professor of journalism at IU and is currently teaching at Syracuse University.
Fargo — who is featured in the “Actors and Production of Cross-Border Journalism” section — wrote a chapter called “Political and Legal Frameworks of Cross-Border Journalism,” which focuses on the human right to gather and impart information. Ireri’s chapter, “Cross-Border Journalism in Sub-Saharan Africa,” is featured in the section titled, “Cross-Border Journalism Across the World.”
