Malitsky receives Sawyer Seminar Grant
The Andrew Mellon Foundation has awarded associate professor Joshua Malitsky a Sawyer Seminar Grant for his group project, Documentary Media and Historical Transformations.
The foundation will honor his work with professors Jeffrey Gould, Marissa Moorman and Christina Ochoa by including it in its Sawyer Seminars fellowship program.
The $175,000 grant will fund turning the team’s project into a yearlong seminar as part of the fellowship program. The seminars will consist of five two-day conferences, each comparing the relationship between documentaries and a different historical transformation.
Malitsky is director of the school’s new Center for Documentary Research and Practice.
The Andrew Mellon Foundation supports projects on comparative research that look at causes of modern social and cultural conditions.
