Kilgo to speak about media portrayal of Black Lives Matter

Assistant professor Danielle Kilgo will speak Friday about media portrayal and marginalization of the Black Lives Matter movement.
The talk, “The Headline U Give: Black Lives Matter, The Media & Unconscious Digital Communities,” is at 1:15 p.m. in Luddy Hall 1106. It’s part of the Rob Kling Center for Social Informatics colloquium.
She’ll illustrate patterns in traditional and nontraditional media narratives and how they contribute to racial oppression. She’ll also talks about social media’s contributions to this issue and how frequently various messages are shared.
