IDS, Arbutus win ACP, CMA awards
The Indiana Daily Student and the Arbutus yearbook won several awards from the Associated Collegiate Press and College Media Association, which were presented at the Fall National College Media Convention Oct. 30-Nov.2 in New Orleans.
The IDS was also named as one of the 21 winners of the Pacemaker award – ACP’s preeminent national award recognizing overall excellence — in the multiplatform and newspaper/newsmagazine category. IU has now won 50 Pacemakers combined.
Associate Collegiate Press – Individual Awards
- Michael Claycamp, fifth place, Sports Game/Action Photo for the IDS
- Cam Garber, fifth place, Feature Story for the Arbutus
- Dalton James, fifth place, Sports Game Story for the IDS
- Marissa Meador, fifth place, Sports Feature Story for the IDS
- Briana Pace, honorable mention, Feature Photo of the Year for the IDS
Associate Collegiate Press – Best of Show
The IDS placed first in the newspaper/newsmagazine, second in the advertising media kit, and sixth in the digital newsletter categories. Arbutus placed fourth in the yearbook category.
College Media Association Pinnacle Awards – Organizations
The IDS placed second in the Best College Media Group of the Year and Weekly Newspaper of the Year (3+ issues per month) categories. The staff also received an honorable mention for the Best Rate Card/Media Kit in the advertising category.
