IDS, Arbutus, Inside Magazine, students win top ICPA honors
Indiana University student media outlets won top honors recently at the 58th annual Indiana Collegiate Press Association’s awards ceremony in Indianapolis.
The Indiana Daily Student, IU’s student-run newspaper, was named Division I Newspaper of the Year and Advertising Publication of the Year, and the IDS website was named Online Publication of the Year.
Arbutus yearbook was named Division I Yearbook of the Year. Inside Magazine received third place for Magazine of the Year.
IU students also brought home a total of 105 individual awards for their work published in 2015.
Senior Megan Jula won ICPA’s Brook Baker Indiana Collegiate Journalist of the Year award, which is given each year to one Indiana college student journalist. She is the ninth IU student to receive the honor since the award’s inception in 1999.
At the ICPA awards ceremony, the Indianapolis Press Club Foundation announced recipients of 2016 Last Row Party Scholarships. Jula won a scholarship for breaking news reporting and junior Brody Miller for sports writing. Each will receive $1,000 from the foundation.
