Dunmead places in Hearst photojournalist contest, IU 10th
Jordan Dunmead tied for 20th place in the Hearst Photo Picture Story/Series competition, the organization announced Monday, placing Indiana University 10th in the overall photojournalism competition.
Dunmead will receive a certificate from the organization for her photos on the story, “Living with death,” published in the Indiana Daily Student.
In the first photojournalism competition in January, Mark Felix, BAJ’14, won eighth place and Caitlin O’Hara, BAJ’14, placed 22nd. Their points contributed to IU’s 10th place finish.
The 14 monthly competitions consist of five writing, two photojournalism, one radio, two TV and four multimedia, with championship finals in all divisions. Students submit their previously published work for the contests. The program awards up to $500,000 in scholarships and grants annually, including student scholarships and matching grants for schools.
The Hearst Journalism Awards Program is conducted under the auspices of accredited schools of the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication, and is fully funded and administered by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation.
