Cookman article leads latest Society for Photographic Education journal
Professor Emeritus Claude Cookman is author of the lead article in the spring 2017 issue of Exposure, the journal of the Society for Photographic Education.
“Kai: Following the Cycle of Life in Osamu James Nakagawa’s Family Photographs,” analyzes two bodies of work by the IU Ruth N. Halls Distinguished Professor of Photography Osamu James Nakagawa. Cookman looks at photographs of the photographer’s father in his decline and death interspersed with photographs of the photographer’s and his wife Tomoko’s daughter, Hikari.
Cookman’s teaching interests include publication design, visual communications and the history of photography. He received the President’s Award for Teaching at IU in 1999.
