Head of development at production company Kinetic Connect
“I’m from Muncie, Indiana. I was a telecommunications major with a business minor, and I graduated from IU in 2001.
Today, I’m head of development at a production company called Kinetic Content. I develop, ideate, create, pitch and sell new television shows and help develop them until they are on the air. Every day is spent either brainstorming new ideas or figuring out what episodes look like and how story arcs play out. We present the ideas to different streamers, networks, cable outfits, and then once they are sold, sometimes my days are spent developing the shows and working with producers to help launch them.
We have a lot of really interesting shows that run the gamut from relationships/social experiment shows like ‘Love is Blind’ on Netflix or ‘Married at First Sight’ on Lifetime to a show called ‘Claim to Fame’ that was on ABC this summer with Kevin Jonas and Frankie Jonas hosting. We’ve really done it all.
I remember being a senior in college messaging a friend who’d graduated a year before me. He moved out to L.A. and was working at a talent agency. He said, ‘You should think about this because it’s kind of business-related but it’s in TV and film.’ I was always a huge pop culture fan, and I knew I wanted to work in TV or film in some way. I thought it sounded really exciting, so he told me the top five agencies at the time, and I just really got busy.
I flew out to L.A., I interviewed and I got a job at a place called United Talent Agency. I just had that sort of motivation and hunger to see it happen. I’ve been in L.A. ever since. I love what I do.”
