Stand-up comedian and aspiring filmmaker and writer
“I study a huge range of stuff. Not only do I study how to write a movie or a TV show, I also study how to edit. I really loved the way movies worked and how storytelling is, and it just really made me want to make people smile too because I love TV and film so much.
(The Media School)’s given me the opportunity to learn so many different ways to film, write and work in TV. I know how to work in the multicam studio even though that’s not what I want to do. I can technical direct but I can also use a signal camera and make a short film also.
I’m in a sketch comedy group here on campus called Boy in the Bubble. I’m the vice president of it. We have a show every other Saturday. It’s like ‘SNL’-style but live. I also do stand-up comedy at The Comedy Attic every once in a while. I’ve been doing stand-up for about a year, and at first it was kind of scary, but it’s definitely unique. It’s super fun though because it’s just you’re telling a story and making people laugh.
In my scriptwriting class, one time I had to read a ‘Doctor Who’ episode out loud, and that’s how I met someone I ended up working on a film with over the entire summer. Hopefully, I’ll just be a script editor for a little bit at a low job. I either want to go into comedy writing and do live TV (if that is still a thing in a few years) or comedy TV.”
