Transmedia class produces live musical, We Are!
Witness the culmination of one year of collaborative work at the live performance of We Are! a musical created and performed by Media School students. Show times are 7 p.m. May 2 and 3 p.m. May 3, both in Studio 5 at RTV 107.
The musical is produced by the Transmedia Storytelling class led by professor of practice Robby Benson and senior lecturer Susan Kelly, serving as director and producer, respectively.
The musical reveals “the redemptive power of love” when an estranged father returns home on the eve of his gay son’s wedding, according to the We Are! website.
Benson created original music for the performance, while Kelly wrote the script. Students serve as cast and crew, using their varied talents and backgrounds to bring the musical to life.
The course, introduced in fall semester, aims to give students a broad perspective of storytelling in several media. Many of the students returned to the class in spring semester to continue the project.
Tickets are free but a limited number remain.
