Team Tori to present game at Game Developers Conference
For the first time ever, a team of students from The Media School will present a game at the Intel University Games Showcase and Expo at the Game Developers Conference in March.
A team of nine students developed the game, “Tori,” in the game design program’s three-semester capstone course.
In the game, players fly as a bird through a mystical land and interact with spirits of sound to bring life to floating islands of Otokai. Players get to discover each island and explore their environments inspired by Japanese culture and legend.
Seniors Joshua Smith, Emmett Ross, Joseph Adams, Josh Haddon and Brian McNamee will represent the team in San Francisco.
Seniors Luke Jeffers, Cole Johnson, Dewayne White and Bryant Warren also worked on the game. Professor of practice Mike Sellers and lecturer Will Emigh served as the team’s advisors.
At the expo, Team Tori will have a chance to demonstrate its game alongside students from other universities — many in graduate programs — from across the country.
A group of students and faculty members will travel to the conference from March 19-23.
