Stratton research earns showcase award at KU forum
Doctoral student Cole Stratton won a showcase award at the Digital Humanities Forum at the University of Kansas Oct. 1 for his research, “Commerce by Design: Beacons, Smartphones & the Production of Networked Commerce.”
The prize included $200 prize and a prime-time presentation slot.
The paper looks at the commercial use of smartphones as a means of managing and controlling consumption. It focuses on beacon technology, using beacon manufacturer Estimote as an example of his findings.
The forum, at the school’s Lawrence, Kansas, campus, addressed Places, Spaces, Sites: Mapping Critical Intersections in Digital Humanities.
