SPJ Cincinnati to induct Holsinger, 2 alumni to hall of fame
The late Professor Emeritus Ralph Holsinger will be inducted into the Journalism Hall of Fame of the Cincinnati Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists June 23.
Holsinger joined IU faculty in 1965 after working as the managing editor for the Cincinnati Enquirer. He began his career as a professor teaching reporting and editing. Holsinger later taught himself communications law so he could teach a class on it when the journalism program curriculum shifted in 1969.
He was the Indiana Daily Student advisor for three years and wrote the charter that converted it to an independent paper in 1969.
Alumni Sheryl Bills, BA’68 (journalism), former Enquirer managing editor and a USA Today founding editor, and Ed Reinke, BS’96 (marketing), who interned at the Enquirer while a student, also will be inducted at the ceremony.
