Plotnick co-convenes The Bloomington Symposia: Intelligence
Associate professor Rachel Plotnick co-hosted a two-and-a-half-day symposium Nov. 14-16. The Bloomington Symposia Intelligence was the culminating event after two semesters of meeting with a group of 15 scholars from across IU Bloomington plus three conveners.
The symposium considered the topic of “intelligence” from a multitude of disciplinary perspectives. While much of the focus hinged on AI technologies, the group also thought about other forms of intelligence related to animals and plants, learning, and creativity.
It is hoped the intensive workshop will catalyze interdisciplinary research around the topic of intelligence and help to forge new partnerships between those on campus.
Conveners of the event also included David Crandall, Luddy School of Informatics, and Caleb Weintraub, Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture + Design.
