Parameswaran, Rao address racism in South Asia
Professor Radhika Parameswaran and doctoral student Pallavi Rao delivered talks at a panel discussion, Anti-Blackness and Racism in South Asia, at the School of Global International Studies April 11.
The panel discussed issues around anti-blackness in South Asia, including topics such as religious, socioeconomic and racial identities’ intersections.
At the event, Parameswaran presented, “Colorism and Racism in South Asian Communities,” and Rao talked on “Contextualizing Race with Caste in India: History and Contemporaneity.”
The Black Lives Matter movement in the United States also was a topic as it calls for South Asians to address racial conflicts.
