Ougie Pak film set for Asian Pacific Heritage Month events
Visiting lecturer Ougie Pak will attend the world premiere one of his own films, The Boardwalk, at 7 p.m. April 2 at IU Cinema. “An Evening with Ougie Pak” also will feature a Q&A with the director.
The screening is part of events scheduled for Movement: Asian Pacific America, a series of films serving as a celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
The film series, sponsored in part by The Media School, will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1965 Immigration Act, which allowed new waves of Asian immigrants to begin lives in the U.S.
Pak’s film is about a gambling-addicted Korean immigrant who takes his son to Atlantic City.
Pak’s work has screened in venues such as the Tribeca Film Festival, the Busan International Film Festival, the Bilbao International Festival of Documentary and Short Film, and the Student Academy Awards.
All screenings are ticketed. Tickets can be picked up at the IU Auditorium box office. Information on Pak’s film as well as other films that will be shown is available online.
