Retired placement director Marge Blewett, BA’48, is featured in the film Rosehill, which will screen at IU Cinema at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2.

The movie was filmed in Bloomington last summer. It follows a New York actress as she visits an old friend in rural Indiana, and they embark on a road trip to reconnect with one another.

Blewett said she and her daughter, Shayne Laughter, met with director Briggita Wagner and agreed to talk on camera. Blewett grew up near the train switchyard, and part of the movie involves the two main characters talking with local residents about change in their lives.

“It was more than a year ago that we filmed, so I’m curious to see the final project,” said Blewett, who plans to attend the screening with Laughter. “You never know, I may have been left on the cutting room floor.”

But Blewett now has her own entry in the IMDb, thanks to her star turn.

In addition to growing up in Bloomington, Blewett was a student at IU in the late 1940s and served as the editor-in-chief of the Indiana Daily Student during her senior year. After a few years as a newspaper reporter, she worked as the placement officer for the former School of Journalism for more than 30 years.

In 2011, she was awarded the school’s Distinguished Alumni Award. She was inducted into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame in 1999.
