Myrick research looks at emotions in health info seeking
Assistant professor Jessica Myrick’s paper, “The Role of Emotions and Social Cognitive Variables in Online Health Information Seeking Processes and Effects,” was published in Computers in Human Behavior Dec. 1.
Myrick used a naturalistic experiment to study post-search emotions when it comes to searching the internet for health information and how these emotions affect post-search behavior and cognitions, using influenza as an example.
Myrick aimed to find ways to improve online health information seeking processes through this study, as individuals searching online for this information often find answers that are questionable in quality.
Myrick’s research focuses on emotions and media, health/science/environmental communication and entertainment psychology.
