Metzgar work on China-based university programs set for journal
Associate professor Emily Metzgar is author of “Institutions of Higher Education as Public Diplomacy Tools: China-Based University Programs for the 21st Century,” to be published in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Studies in International Education. The study examines two English-language graduate programs in China through the lens of public diplomacy, Metzgar’s research expertise.
The article considers China’s efforts to prepare young professionals for a future in which the Chinese economy will play a key role. The programs in question are the Schwarzman Scholars at Tsinghua University and the Yenching Academy at Peking University. Both are designed to serve international students.
