Media School welcomes 357 undergraduate beginners
The Media School has added 357 new students to its ranks this fall with the undergraduate class of 2028. Including all undergraduate and graduate students, the school has a total enrollment of 2,555.
Undergraduate students
There are now 2,474 undergraduate students currently enrolled in The Media School, a 20% increase over last fall. The school continues to see growing interest from prospective students, with a record number of both applicants and admitted students for fall 2024. The sharp growth in undergraduate enrollment is also driven heavily by a new campus advising policy that resulted in all beginners and pre-media students being directly admitted into the school.
Majors breakdown is as follows:
- Media: 70%
- Journalism: 19%
- Cinematic arts: 6%
- Game design: 5%
Sixty percent are residents of Indiana, and 40% are from out of state.
A record number of 463 — 19% — of Media School undergraduates are underrepresented students of color, an increase of 27% from this time last year. Seven percent of undergraduates — 162 — are first-generation college students.
Graduate students
The Media School currently has 81 graduate students, which is a 5% increase over last fall, with 21 new grad students for fall 2024.
