Media School adjunct wins Bloomington’s Woman of the Year award
Adjunct instructor Marsha Lovejoy, BAJ’08, was named the 2024 Woman of the Year by the City of Bloomington on March 1. She was honored during the Women’s History Month Luncheon at the Monroe Convention Center on March 28.
Woman of the Year is a part of the city’s Commission on the Status of Women Annual Women’s Achievement Awards. These awards recognize up to four outstanding women and their dedication to solving the problems and challenges faced by women.
Lovejoy is the global public relations manager for Cook Medical and is teaching Integrated Marketing Communication Campaign Planning at The Media School this semester. She is an advocate for providing local women and girls access to products that support their health, dignity, and quality of life. She became an affiliate director with I Support the Girls, an international organization that gathers and distributes menstrual products and underclothes to people in need. Soon after, she began a Bloomington affiliate of ISTG.
As a leader of the Bloomington ISTG, Lovejoy has distributed thousands of products to homeless shelters, schools, and addiction recovery centers across the city and several surrounding areas. She has also worked with national brands and local donors and organizations, including Indiana Recovery Alliance, Middle Way House, Richland Bean Blossom Community School Corporation, Monroe County Community School Corporation, and Pantry 279.
