Mammadov study in Visual Communication Quarterly
Doctoral student Rashad Mammadov is author of “The King Is Dead, Long Live The King!”: Image of the United States as the Primary Enemy on the pages of Krokodil from Stalin to Khrushchev,” published in the fall issue of Visual Communication Quarterly.
Through semiotic textual analyses of the cartoons, this study examines the increasing depiction of the United States as the primary enemy on the pages of the leading Soviet satiric magazine, Krokodil, against the country’s general softening in regard to foreign affairs during Khrushchev`s Thaw.
Visual Communication Quarterly is a publication of AEJMC Visual Communication Division.
