Fritz work in Sex Roles journal
Doctoral student Niki Fritz’s study, “From Orgasms to Spanking: A Content Analysis of the Agentic and Objectifying Sexual Scripts in Feminist, for Women and Mainstream Pornography,” was published in Sex Roles earlier this month.
In the article, Fritz conducts a content analysis on 300 pornographic scenes to compare categories of internet pornography aimed at women and mainstream pornography, specifically looking at indicators of sexual objectification and agency.
Fritz argues that mainstream pornography contains significantly more depictions of female objectification than feminist or for women content. Fritz also concludes that different categories of porn allow women to have different scripts related to sexual objectification, agency and gender dynamics. These variations may impact sexual behavior.
