Ellcessor study looks at accessibility issues
Assistant professor Elizabeth Ellcessor is author of a paper about accessibility in technology that recently was published in the journal First Monday.
Her paper, “Blurred Lines: Accessibility, Disability, and Definitional Limitations,” analyzes the difference between accessibility in technology for disabled people and usability concerns from the general public.
Ellcessor looks at accessibility issues in Apple’s iOS 7 operating system on the iPhone to explore how the problems inflict on disability rights.
She concludes that looking at access problems for people with disabilities could improve technology’s ability to better serve a variety of peoples’ needs.
