Bell to lecture on noir authors, Hollywood studios
Media School lecturer Tim Bell will present a lecture at 5:30 p.m. April 12 in the Studio Theatre, 275 N. Jordan Ave., on one of the stories behind the scenes of the Hollywood studio system.
In “The Big Outfit: Film Noir, the Writer and the Hollywood Studio System,” Bell will delve into the relationships between major Hollywood studios, such as Paramount and Warner Brothers, and classic film noir authors including Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler.
Bell teaches classes on film noir, true crime and the history of documentary. The lecture is presented by Theatre Circle in conjunction with the IU Theatre’s City of Angels production.
