Paint The Town
Graduate student Jack Bassett produced a short video on the topic of the 2024 total solar eclipse for Susanne Schwibs’ Media Production Practicum. The video was screened at the Eclipse Symposium at the Gayle Karch Cooke Center in Maxwell Hall.
Over 500 cosmic star-studded submissions of art flooded into Shelby County in honor of the solar eclipse phenomenon. Led by efforts from the Blue River Community Foundation students across Shelby County schools and community members of all ages were asked to create art that represents their view/excitement for the solar eclipse. This locally made art was proudly showcased at community gathering places. Those who participated in this art installation share what both the solar eclipse and art mean to them.
