The Academic Honors Program provides top-performing students the opportunity to challenge themselves academically and graduate with a departmental honors notation.
Each spring, approximately 25 rising juniors with the strongest academic records are invited to join the program. Admission is by invitation only. There is no application, referral/recommendation or other procedures to be considered for the Academic Honors program — it is based solely on cumulative GPA.
To successfully complete the program and earn an honors notation, students must meet three requirements:
Complete a minimum of two Media School honors classes with a grade of B or better (see advance list of honors classes here)
Complete a senior thesis or creative project during your final semester, under the guidance of a faculty member, or take the Ernie Pyle Scholars or Media Scholars capstone class offered spring semester
Apply for your senior thesisDemonstrate strong performance in Media School courses and maintain an excellent overall GPA throughout your college career
