Electron Fund for Science Communications
This award supports students and faculty who are working on or engaged in projects and initiatives related to science-based communication. It was created by James F. Corning, PhD’84 (chemistry), who was involved in WIUS Student Radio during his time at IU and enjoyed a career in marketing and chemical information.
Undergraduate students, graduate students, or junior faculty from The Media School or the College can apply for funds to support a specific project or initiative in this realm, such as:
- Multimedia projects (video, podcast, website)
- Conference travel/attendance
- Internship support
Students are encouraged to collaborate on projects, as collaboration often encourages creativity and innovation.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Awards will range from $1,000-$5,000.
The Electron Fund for Science Communications encourages students to both experiment with and improve their skills using the latest media tools and technology to enhance their stories.
