*Because content will vary depending on the design of the course, the capstone may be taught as either a skills class or a research elective. This decision will be left to the class mentor who will teach the course.
Note: If you will be graduating early, spending spring semester away from campus, have a significant scheduling conflict or another reason why you cannot take MSCH-H462 during the spring semester of your senior year, you should notify the honors director during your junior year. With honors director approval, you will instead take MSCH-H498, Independent Study for Honors Students, during the fall or spring semester of your senior year. Additionally, if your schedule permits, you may take both MSCH-H498 and MSCH-H462.
Ernie Pyle Scholars and Media Scholars travel together to New York City during spring break week of their sophomore year to meet with alumni and visit media and communications organizations. This is an important component of the honors program, and the trip is mandatory and sponsored by The Media School.
Ernie Pyle Scholars can apply for the Summer in London program, although participation is not required. Information about this program is provided in the fall of your sophomore year.

One of the benefits of being an Ernie Pyle Scholar is the financial support you receive from The Media School for domestic and international travel to enhance your educational endeavors. This support typically includes funding for the required spring break trip to New York City during your second year, a scholarship for the Summer in London program (amount varies by year), and a scholarship for your first Media School international travel course (amount varies by year and course). The school cannot provide scholarships for non-Media School courses.
Additionally, students may sign up for Media School travel courses at any time during their academic career, if space is available. These courses are independent from the honors program. The school provides supplemental funding for only one MSCH-X478 travel course.
