Moving toward media ambassadorship
“The second I came into IU, I realized The Media School was really my home. They helped me realize, ‘Wow, if all these people are helping me make such huge choices in life, maybe I can be the next voice to help other people make those huge choices.’ So I decided I wanted to become an ambassador. I’ve moved toward media ambassadorship, and I’ve loved doing that so far. I help out with a lot of different events, I give tours in The Media School and I help incoming freshmen.
IU has always felt like home. Growing up in Indiana, I made a lot of visits here to IU. For a while, I was between a couple different schools. Over some time it just became natural that IU was and always will be my home. There’s something that just feels comforting about it. There’s an awesome media department, but overall it felt right.
I’ve just enjoyed being part of all the different screenwriting and film-related classes as well as just finding out in general what I want to do in The Media School and outside of college. As of right now, that’s mainly screenwriting and film-focused, but I have also taken some classes that are more based toward gaming, general media, editing and all sorts of things like that.
The thing that stands out most about being a part of IU and a part of The Media School was the entire year of being in the (Media) LLC. The friendships I made and the connections I made through the LLC have connected even into today. I still collaborate with a lot of those people. I’m still best friends with a lot of those people, and it just helped me feel more accustomed to IU and The Media School.”
