Students participate in Adobe’s Creative Jam tournament
On March 27, Adobe’s Creative Cloud team hosted a Creative Jam in Franklin Hall. Billed as an “inspiring two-part design experience that demonstrates and celebrates creativity,” the Creative Jam brought IU students together to discuss their personal creative processes with local creative professionals and witness the results of the Creative Jam Tournament. Student design teams competed in a design charette showdown in which they built an app, website or other experience using Adobe XD, inspired by a theme announced just 3 hours before they were to present.
There were two categories, motion design and graphic design, in which students could enter. While the design teams were in motion, speakers like Jaki Clark, Lead UX Designer and Creative Director for Eli Lilly, and Aundre Larrow, Adobe Creative Resident, gave talks on their work and the industry.
Once the competition wrapped, the design teams shared presentations on their creations — and awaited judgment. Audience members were able to vote on a People’s Choice winner, and the panel of judges — which included professionals from IU, Adobe, and Blackbaud — awarded Grand Prize winners; the teams ”The Strawberry Jammers” and “Here for the Food.” The team submissions are available to view on the IU Adobe Creative Jam website. Attendees were also able to have their portfolios critiqued on-site by local professionals.
