Martin, Moorman paper on Teno in Third Text
A paper by Michael T. Martin, professor and director of the Black Film Center/Archive, and associate professor of history Marissa Moorman has been published in Third Text, a journal focusing on globalization and contemporary art.
“The Civilizing Mission of Globalization—Technology, African Cinematic Practice and Overcoming Neocolonialism: A Conversation with Film-maker Jean-Marie Teno,” focuses on Cameroonian filmmaker Jean-Marie Teno, whose repertoire highlights the issues of postcolonialism and globalization.
The paper includes a transcript of Martin’s interview with Teno, who focuses on the Nigerian film industry known as Nollywood, which Teno criticizes for its misrepresentations of African identity.
