Lanosga, Weaver study in Journalism Studies
Assistant professor Gerry Lanosga and Distinguished Professor Emeritus David Weaver are co-authors of a study recently published in Journalism Studies.
Lanosga, University of Kentucky professor Lars Willnat, Weaver and University of Illinois professor Brant Houston wrote “A Breed Apart? A Comparative Study of Investigative Journalists and U.S. Journalists,” published in the journal Journalism Studies.
Their article compares demographics, perceptions of journalistic roles and support for controversial reporting practices between investigative journalists and U.S. journalists.
The team surveyed 861 investigative journalists and 1,080 U.S. journalists for the study. They found that investigative journalists are more likely to identify with an adversarial function of journalism compared to other journalists.
