Myrick’s poster receives honorable mention
Assistant professor Jessica Gall Myrick won honorable mention for her poster session at the 2016 Kentucky Conference on Health Communication in Lexington, Kentucky.
Myrick presented her work, “R U Tanning? The Relationships Between Female Adolescents’ Media Use, Indoor Tanning Beliefs, and Behavioral Intentions” April 15. The paper, which she co-authored with Seth Noar, Dannielle Kelley and Alexandra Zeitany, all of the University of North Carolina, examines the link between media exposure and adolescents’ indoor tanning beliefs.
The researchers conducted a survey of 510 adolescents between ages 15 and 18 to test the relationship between media and tanning behaviors.
Myrick previously has published research on indoor tanners’ attitudes in a paper, “An Empirical Analysis of Indoor Tanners: Implications for Audience Segmentation in Campaigns,” that was accepted for publication in the Journal of Health Communication.
