Fargo to lead D.C. panel on watchdog journalism
Associate professor Anthony Fargo will moderate a panel discussion June 21 in Washington, D.C., on the role of the press in monitoring and reporting on government activity.
The panel session, “Building a Better Watchdog,” will take place at the National Press Club. It is supported by The Media School’s Barbara Restle Press Law Project.
Panelists are Jay Ward Brown, a partner at Levine Sullivan Koch & Schulz; Laura Litvan, BA’87, a congressional reporter for Bloomberg; Michael Tackett, BA’81, deputy DC bureau chief for the New York Times; and Sonja West, a law professor at the University of Georgia. Courtney Radsch of the Committee to Protect Journalists will offer opening remarks.
The Restle project focuses on research and education about laws that protect journalists and their sources and on strengthening press freedom laws. Fargo leads the project in his role as director of The Media School’s Center on International Media Law and Policy Studies.
