Biography
I’m a second-year M.A. student in The Media School. I received a dual B.A. in liberal arts and sciences from Bard College and St. Petersburg State University, Russia.
Before coming to IU I worked as a project coordinator at several international film festivals in Russia, including Andrey Tarkovsky International film festival and Documentary Film Festival Message to Man. I was also a writer for a student-run film journal covering the programs of international film festivals.
I’m interested in the confluence of documentary film aesthetics, domestic ethnography, and cross-cultural theories. In my Master’s thesis, I investigate cinematic techniques used by exilic and diasporic filmmakers that offer an immersive subjective experience for the viewer.
