The annual Take It Easy Open golf outing benefits the John M. Jackson Memorial Scholarship established in honor of Jackson, an IU student who died in 1996 of a brain aneurysm. The IU senior had been IDS editor-in-chief the summer before his death.
Alumni, including JR Ross and other friends, started the outing as a way to support a scholarship in Jackson’s memory. The outing has since raised nearly $100,000 for scholarships.
