Biography
Jack Bassett is a first-year M.S. student studying documentary and non fiction production. He received his bachelor of arts in cinema production from the Media School in May 2020. Jack went on to serve as a multimedia journalist with 13abc news in Toledo, Ohio and then worked as a videographer for the RV, Marine, and Automotive company Lippert in Elkhart, Indiana.
During his undergrad experience at IU, Jack was an active member of IUSTV working on multiple shows serving many different positions. Jack was active in journalism courses as well where he developed a passion for reporting and storytelling. He served as a podcast producer for the Media School’s former environmental publication {The Indiana Environmental Reporter / IER} where he created audio driven accounts of the ecological conditions and current events impacting the hoosier state.
As a graduate student Jack is creating people driven narratives and exploring the relationship of news reporting and mental health. He plans to work with different groups and students on campus to create new video productions to add to his experience and portfolio! Currently Jack is focused on video productions centered around the viral “Tik Tok Pickle Jar Sweatshirt” and the history of the sport of Pickle-ball. Please feel free to reach out to Jack if you have a video request, story idea, or subject you think would be worth crafting a video showcase with!
