Biography
Haley Pierce is a Ph.D. student in The Media School. Her research broadly seeks to understand the effects of mediated information on people’s political attitudes and behaviors and to connect these effects to larger social phenomena.
Currently, she is using psychophysiological measures to analyze how different message features of misinformation, including partisan cues and sensationalism, contribute to emotional processing of the content, and ultimately, affective polarization.
Haley received her M.A. from The Media School with the thesis “Media Ownership and Agenda-Cutting: The Effect of Sinclair Broadcasting on Public Awareness of Climate Change” and her B.S. in Journalism from The University of Nebraska at Kearney.
