Wright and colleagues awarded grant to study social media effects
Professor and Director of Communication Science Paul Wright and several collaborators have been awarded a grant to further the study of social media effects. The collaboration includes Wright, a professor of communication science; Francesca Guizzo, a professor of psychology; and Tomaso Erseghe, a professor of information engineering.
The grant, from the University of Padova, will fund three studies investigating the impact of social media content on a number of outcomes related to consumerism, commercialism, and materialism. The studies will include survey, experimental, and machine learning methodologies.
Wright is a Fellow of the International Communication Association and Association for Psychological Science. The research program of Wright and his colleagues, inclusive of domestic and international collaborations, has collectively received multi-million dollar support from both federal and private funders.
