Weaver visits NU in Qatar
Professor Emeritus David Weaver visited Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) the first week of Feb. to discuss global reporting and the changing face of journalism.
“There is not a typical ‘global journalist,’” said Weaver in his address to NU-Q students and faculty, according to QatarIsBooming.com. “But there are signs of international agreement on professional roles and values like independence, autonomy, credibility and reporting ethically.”
Weaver also visited classes and met with faculty and leadership teams during his time at NU-Q.
Weaver is author of more than a dozen books, including the award-winning American Journalists series, which he initiated in the 1970s with his mentor, journalism Professor Emeritus Cleve Wilhoit. In 2010, he was named a Distinguished Professor at IU and in 2012 was inducted to the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame.
