Ulrich places 1st in Hearst profile writing competition
Senior Lauren Ulrich placed first in the Personality/Profile Writing category of the 2022-23 Hearst Journalism Awards Program‘s Intercollegiate Writing Competition.
Her story, “She dreams of Afghanistan: The life she built was lost to the Taliban. Now, she’s working to create a world where she can go home.,” was published in the Indiana Daily Student. It was selected out of 114 entries from 67 schools.
Tory Basile placed tenth place with her article “A Thousand Wishes,” which was also published in the Indiana Daily Student.
Indiana University is in third place in the Intercollegiate Writing Competition based on the accumulated student points from the fourth of five writing competitions held this year.
