Tompkins wins Student Leadership Award

Doctoral student Jessica Tompkins won the 2016 Student Leadership Award during the IU Center of Excellence for Women in Technology conference Feb. 26.
Tompkins is pursuing a Ph.D. in communication science with a minor in sociology. Her research has spanned media representations of gender, sex and ethnicity to social processes and effects of video games.
She has taught courses such as Game Art and Sound, Intro to Interactive Media Design and Media Cultures.
Tompkins also is the lead intern for CEWiT’s Women in Game Design Special Interest Group, where she supervises two student interns.
