Raymer to publish new book
Professor emeritus Steve Raymer’s most recent book, “Somewhere West of Lonely: My Life in Pictures,” will be released April 1.
The visual memoir features more than 150 of his images from around the world and the stories behind them. He discusses the importance of photojournalism ethics and shares wisdom from his mentors over the years.
Raymer spent decades as a photographer for National Geographic before joining the faculty at IU.
“Steve Raymer’s new book expresses clearly what it takes to make compelling visual journalism that informs and educates, and how the experiences of the life journey as a National Geographic photographer shaped his view of his own responsibilities,” said Thomas R. Kennedy, executive director of the American Society of Media Photographers and former director of photography at National Geographic.
The book is published by Indiana University Press.
