Potter and Wright named ICA fellows
Media School professors Rob Potter and Paul Wright have been selected as International Communication Association fellows, a status that recognizes distinguished scholarly contributions to the broad field of communication.
Potter and Wright are The Media School’s fourth and fifth ICA fellows, joining provost professor Betsi Grabe, distinguished professor Annie Lang, and distinguished professor emeritus David Weaver. Living ICA fellows account for just 4.5 percent of ICA membership.
The fellow inductions were ratified by a vote of the ICA Board of Directors at the organization’s annual conference this weekend in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Potter is also the Media School’s director of graduate studies, and his research focuses on the impact of sound on information processing of media, using psychophysiological measures as indicators of cognitive and emotional response. Wright also serves as the director of communication science, and his research and teaching interests center on health communication and media effects.
