Paul, scholars join in summit on pornography, youth
The Media School, the School of Public Health and the Harnisch Foundation hosted The Summit on Pornography, Youth and Sexual Socialization, which focused on Hot Girls Wanted, a documentary about young girls who are reeled into the amateur porn business. The summit was June 13-14 on campus.
Associate professor Bryant Paul co-produced the film with actress Rashida Jones. They joined scholars from the University of Michigan, University of Miami Law School and IU at the summit.
The group discussed how to use the film to help guide discussion about sexuality with teens and use the film to address the issue of young adults who are trapped in the porn industry.
Paul said the goal of this summit was to continue the philanthropic relationship between the school and the Harnisch Foundation, a private foundation that practices progressive philanthropy with a focus on girls and women. The goal of the partnership is to develop online resources that can be used to help teens and parents deal with issues related to pornography and sexual socialization, according to Paul.
